The New Yorker: Facts on the horror stories of American soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners. This stuff is well documented and it doesn't look like it's just one wacko guy. How can this happen? Someone commented that this set back "the US's efforts in the middle-east by 20 years". I worry that something like this (together with America's attitude over the past 2 years) creates a level of hatred that probably has never been reached before. Nobody (I mean nobody) outside of the US is going to trust the US or its army again in decades to come.
