Bob Taylor

Computer scientist (1932–2017) who ran ARPA's Information Processing Techniques Office, which funded the ARPANET, and then set up the computer science lab at Xerox PARC. He hired only top people, let them pick the problems, and gave everyone the single title "Member of Research Staff". Alan Kay says he paid for most of their Ph Ds. See Wikipedia.
